What Causes A Soft Knot Under Left Rib Cage?

I have a soft knot under my left rib cage. I noticed it about a year and a half ago but with no pain. I went to the doctor about 6 months ago and had a sonogram and they found nothing other than me having a fatty liver. Now I m starting to have pressure and a little discomfort where the knot is. Please help thanks

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
A painless know under the left rib cage can be due to soft tissue swelling.
I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment.
An aspiration cytology of the swelling will be helpful.
In this investigation, cells are aspirated using a fine needle.
The aspirated cells are spread on a glass slide, stained with appropriate stain and examined under microscope.
This investigation will determine the origin and nature of the lesion.
Further management can be planned after clinical assessment and investigations.

Thanks and take care
