Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yesterday I noticed a hard (feels like bone) pea sized lump on my manubrium (top of sternum) it hurt on it s own yesterday (thought I had muscle pull or something due to mowing lawn. Pain was isolate to very top of this pea shape lump which I never knew I had. Pain gone today (unless I press right on it). Feels like bone - can not move at all.
I suggest you do an ultrasound of this lump to see its structure. Since you noticed it this morning, probably its an epigastric hernia or a diastasis recti. Both these conditions can be diagnosed by physical exam and ultrasound will give extra information. Also, a lipoma (growth of fat cells) is an option. We will know more after you do a physical exam and an ultrasound of this lump. I suggest to not rub it anymore, because since we don't know what it is, we don't know if rubbing will make it worse or not.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
