General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Small mass on the flank near the ribs commonly are lipoma's (a collection of fatty tissue), but it can be a bone spur, tumor, etc. You are suggested to go for a biopsy if required to rule out malignancy. Your treatment (by medicines, surgery or chemotherapy) will depend upon the symptoms & severity of the pathology detected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.

Regards,
