What Causes A Random Sharp Pains In The Head Of A Child?

I have a 8 year old daughter in good health that for the last several weeks has been complaning of random sharp pains on the right side of her head that last several seconds then goes away. She had one this am and she wen to her knees crying and stating that it hurt really bad. Then a few seconds later it was gone. She has complained of headaches more often than ususal also. What could this be we do have appt with our eye Dr. today

Please see her pediatrician first, as sudden sharp headaches can be due to more serious illnesses like migraine, tension and even brain infections and tumors. Not trying to scare you, but eye problems are unlikely to cause such sharp and severe sudden headaches.
