What Causes A Purple Mark On The Penis?

I was hanging weights from my penis and felt a pop on the right side. There was a purple mark on my penis. The next day it was a dark color along the shaft . I went to ER and they looked at it using ultrasound. Said it was getting blood flow ... I felt better about it .. It has been a week now and the discoloration is still there . There is a slight chronic pain... The pain is no where near day two pain. There is also a tightness in my penis that goes all the way back with my penis into the scrotum area. Should I wait another week to see how it feels ?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The purple spot seems to be because of traumatic injury to the penis head. Vigorous sex sometimes can lead to such a problem. Ice application can be done and a non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug can be prescribed. You can post a photo to comment further. In STD there is a presence of an ulcer-like lesion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
