Every once in a while I get this feeling like something is poking me a couple inches or so up inside my rectum. It usually only lasts for a little while though. It almost makes me feel like I may need to have a bowel movement but I don t pass anything. Because I have what my Gastro doc called a lazy anus , I take Mirilax every other day to make sure I am able to go (I don t have anus muscles to push BMs out). I go regularly and it is always really soft, so constipation is not the problem. Background: I am 62, female. I have colonoscopies & upper GI s regularly (every 3-5 years) and everything is always fine. I do have some type of IBS. Almost everything I eat gives me gas or acid reflux. I currently take 40 mg. Omeprazole daily plus GasX twice daily, Beano & Lactaid (Lactose intolerant, too) with every meal, Gaviscon liquid for my acid reflux and a lot of the time the only relief I get is with Alka Seltzer or Coke. I have had 5 surgeries on my right hip replacement alone in the past year due to infections. I am on a lot of medications & have been on a lot of antibiotics and pain meds and am quite sedentary, though I am getting more active with my physical therapy (hoping to go to a cane soon from a walker from a wheelchair). My infectious Diseases doc says I ll be on antibiotics the rest of my life (He also says my infection count is abnormally high even when the hip infection is gone). My Ortho surgeon has me on a lot of vitamins & minerals & proteins. Plus I also have osteoarthritis and nerve pain so I am taking Lyrica and Oxaprozin as maintenance meds pain meds. I ve got all kinds of problems with my back, too, including scoliosis, osteoporosis, herniated or bulging discs, compression fractures, spinal stenosis, and spondylitis (I think that s it for that part.) I also have severe sinus/nose issues so I am on Allegra & Guaifenisen regularly. I also take Metoprolol & Simvastatin, Prozac (30+yrs), Tizanidine & Diphenhydramine to help me sleep (tinnitus). I keep Nitro pill for emergency (A-Fib), Xanax for panick attacks (rare), Meclizine for vertigo. Gee, I think that s it. Oh,and my kids say I m losing it - my memory is going. I don t think I could hold down a job if I tried, so I am basically retired depending on my eldest son to take care of me. (I get a whole whopping $600 mo disability.) Sorry, didn t mean to be so long, but wanted you to know history.
