What Causes A Painful Lump On The Back Of Head After An Injury?
Hi Saturday 2 weeks ago I fell backwards and smacked my head on concrete. The back of my head ballooned up and because I had alcohol on me when I got home I stayed awake. The next night I put ice on the back of my head. Since then the big lump has reduced however it is still the size of a golf ball. I had no sickness or memory loss however Monday just gone my stomach was ropey and I got sick. One of my sisters has the vomiting bug so I think I just caught this off her. What I would like to know is should the lump be totally gone down by now? It is a small bit tender if I press it. Should I need a scan? Thanking you in advance
By nature some of the hematoma are hard to disappear. I suggest to my patients to put direct ice to the hematoma for 5 min every night.
This will take care of the hematoma.
Since its a big impact on the head i should check my patient every week if they are not experience headaches, blurred vision or other strange effects since they still have risk to develop brain damage in the long term.
Having a head scan would help but only when this symptoms are present.
Kind regards,
Dr. Oscar Martinez
