What Causes A Painful Lump Between The Jaw And The Site Of Wisdom Teeth Extraction?

Hi, I just had my four wisdom teeth out two days ago. I didn t go under, just had laughing gas and nova cane. Today, a lump appeared on my jaw between the extraction site and chin. It s super painful and I m having a hard time moving my jaw, but I ve been very careful with food and been taking the pain meds with the amoxicillin that they prescribed. Is it an infection?

Hi..

A lump post wisdom tooth extraction can be due to hematoma formation as it can be at times seem post wisdom tooth extraction due to accumulation of blood into soft tissues from spilled blood vessels..

It can also simply be inflammatory swelling due to the surgical procedure..

So for now you should continue with antibiotics and painkillers and do cool compresses over the swelling.
Take light meals..

In case if the pain and the swelling does not reduce rather continue to grow consult an Oral Physician your treating oral surgeon and get checked..

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
