Hello,

You have a bump on the skin at the top of the vagina. It is itchy but no discharge but uncomfortable. Painful bump in the vaginal region is commonly due to sebaceous cysts, Bartholin's cyst, pimples in the vagina, ingrown hair, genital warts, herpes, contact dermatitis, STD, etc.

Reconsider your shaving method, reduce the frequency of shaving. Change blades after single use. Be gentle with yourself and use a shaving cream to clean your genital area. Taking a sitz bath and warm compress may be helpful. Applying an antibiotic ointment (Neosporin / Soframycin) on the affected area will give relief. Keep the genital area clean. Take regular shower/bath and wear loose fitting cotton clothes.

If Bartholin cyst is detected, your treating Gynae will treat it by incision, drainage and antiseptic dressing will be done. You will have to take antibiotics and analgesics for healing. In case of sexually transmitted diseases get STD tests done, if positive you will be treated with antivirals and antibiotics.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
