What Causes A Lump On Thumb After An Injury?

Hi. My hand hurts on the soft ball part below my thumb (inside of my hand) and I can feel a knot there. I am an avid sewer and did a lot of typing my whole life. I don t know if that has anything to do with it but I don t know what kind of doctor I should consult.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

You can consider consulting your general doctor initially. He or she can assess and treat you or refer you if necessary.
Referral, if needed, would be to an orthopedic doctor.

Your GP may consider imaging (x rays) of the hand and may also suggest the use of warm compresses and anti inflammatory pain medication such as naproxen, cataflam or ibuprofen.

I hope this helps
