Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I fell down a flight of stairs almost 2 years ago. I fell at the top step and slide down the entire staircase (about 20) steps on my side. the impact was to my thigh. The side of my thigh. It bruised my entire side of my thigh. After a few weeks the bruise vanished but a lump formed where the impact occurred. From time to time it aches. Usually when I sit for too long, walk too much or exercise a lot. I also have arthritis in many joints (legs, shoulders, back, hips etc) Could someone give me a hint as to what this lump/buldge is. it is not visible to the naked eye. you need to rub deep to feel it. Still hurts form time to time..
Usually such type pf lump due to fall, that is trauma is a collection of blood fragments. After trauma there develop oozing of blood and this is called as hematoma. When such case come to me I advise to rub heparine ointment on it. It must dissolve within 4-5 days, if remain as such, then you must consult a SURGEON and get his opinion.
Hope this will help you. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Het Ram Bishnoi
