What Causes A Lump On The Incision Site Post Right Hernia Repair?
I had a right hernia repair in 2010 and have a lump at the incision line and now my MD said I have a weak abdominal wall not a hernia and he recommends a laparoscopic procedure to strengthen the abdominal wall any information on this procedure would be helpful. I have had the lump for over 4 months now, should I have a procedure soon or can I wait? The MD said it will never go away on its own. I have also had a hernia repair on the Left in 2004 no problems on that side.
Your doctor seems right, as some times weakly abdominal wall, may definitely protrudes foreword due to weight of abdominal contents, giving rise the feeling of a lump. As this weakness may be more at the incision site of previous operation, hence it may become a common site of such lump.
Also, as you had also a hernia repair in 2004, therefore the weakness of wall may be still more. Hence the only option for a viable solution of your problem seems to be surgical repair of the weak abdominal wall.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
