What Causes A Lump On The Cheekbone Post Injury Despite A Normal CT Scan?
I fell out of bed 3 weeks ago and hit my left cheek on the night stand. I had a cat scan which showed no fracture or broken bones. I had major swelling and black and blues including black eyes. Now I have a tennis ball sized lump still on the cheekbone with a little bruising under it. The lump is very firm to the touch. Is this normal and can I do anything to get rid of it? JSS
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of lump on the cheekbone post injury despite a normal CT scan. Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to hemtoma formation as CT is negative for any fracture. Need not to worry. Maintain hygiene and and apply cold compresses every 4 hourly alternative with warm compresses. I would suggest you to consult ortho and maxillofacial surgeon once for proper examination and start with proper course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory medications and vitamin supplement. Take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
