What Causes A Large Swollen Bruise On Thigh Caused After Injury?

I have a large bruise on my thigh which is swollen (feels like a lump but is VERY tender). I think it happened when I fell off a banana boat on Saturday! Should I see a doctor? It is about 15cm across and I have a history of blood clots but am not on any blood thinners currently.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a large bruise on thigh due to Traumatic injury can be due rupture to small blood vessels leading to spillage of blood into the soft tissues leading to Hematoma formation and bruising..
The lump is formed due to accumulation of ruptured fibres, broken blood vessels, inflammatory cells and exudate..
You can apply a numbing gel containing Lignocaine or analgesic gel containing Choline Salicylate..
Apply a Heparin containing ointment for faster disintegration of clot and fading of bruise..
You can do alternate warm and cold compresses..
Elevation of leg while lying down should be done..
For pain you can take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
