What Causes A Large Lump On Rectum Causing Pain While Passing Stool?

I have had constipation problems since I was three years old. I have to give myself impaction alot. Lately within the last three days I have had excruciating rectal deep within the colon. Tonight I checked to see if some hard stool was in there but there wasn t but I felt a large golf ball size lump on the side of my rectum. I knew the pain I have been having down there wasn t normal plus I can t hardly even sit down. I have never had this problem before. I have a double---first cousin that is in his early fifties and he has had colon cancer and many surgeries and still has a lot of problems from the cancer. I am scared to death !!!! Not to mention I can t sit down or hardly walk. What is your personal opinion doctor ?? Please and thank you so much !!!!!

I have gone through your query. Haemorrhoids (internal) can give such presentation. But better to have a digital examination by General surgeon to rule out this. A proctoscopy might be required in case of inconsistency in diagnosis. Even for malignant lesions in the beginning it is very easy to excise and clear it. So better to consult a General surgeon to rule out it early.
You can do sits baths. Take stool softeners like sorbitol or lactulose. Take food containing high in dietary fiber and increase intake of plain water. Applying over the counter haemorrhoid creams containing corticosteroid and anaesthetic like procotosedyl will be helpful for pain and irritation. These all you can do til you see your doctor.
