What Causes A Hole Between The Cheek And Gums Post Wisdom Tooth Extraction?

Hi, its been 6 days since they extracted an impacted wisdom tooth on the lower left side. Yesterday, I saw that there is an open hole. The hole is located between my cheek and the gums. I freaked out and got very worried because I am still bleeding from the site. I didn’t know it was coming from that site until yesterday. However, I saw that there was this white substance underneath me gums and I certainly don’t know what it is either. I want to know if the hole is normal as well as the white substance. Thank you!

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

A per your complain it seems that if you see a hole from where the wisdom tooth was extracted in between your cheek and gums it seems that it must be the extraction socket where healing must be going on as you said you could see the white substance also which is mostly seen when the healing is going on and the new tissue is forming .

But the other thing what could be happening is as follows:

The bleeding mostly subside in a day or two after extraction but a little bit of blood like a few traces can be seen for some more time also but if the bleeding is excessive you should immediately consult your dentist to get evaluated that whether the socket is healing or the clot as dislodged due to which you are able to see an empty hole in the place from where tooth is extracted leading to formation of dry socket as well as there may be some infection in the extraction socket.

You can consult your dentist to get evaluated for what is exactly happening in the extraction site so that after clinical examination a correct advise can be given to you..

Hope your query is solved..

Thanks and regards..
