What Causes A Hard Pouch Under The Right Knee?

When I extend my leg, there a pouch that appears right under my knee. It doesn t hurt or isn t uncomfortable. It is a little hard but as soon as I bend my knee, it goes away. I am on my feet a lot so I don t know if it could be related to that or if it has to do with something else. I only noticed it today.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you seem to be suffering from varicose veins. These are swollen and enlarged veins that occur under the skin.

Normally, one-way valves in the leg veins keep blood moving up toward the heart. When the valves do not work properly, they allow blood to back up into the vein. The vein swells from the blood that collects there, which causes varicose veins. Advised to consult a surgeon from proper clinical assessment and its appropriate treatment.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
