What Causes A Feeling Of Something Stuck In The Throat?

I used to get a feeling of something stuck in throat and now have developed a mild pain in throat.I saw ent for stuck in in the throat feeling(I didn t have throat pain at that time) he examined my throat and nose and gave me pantop 40 for a month because he thought it was acid.during that time I noticed a slight lump half a pea sized right below my Adam s apple on the right of windpipe..I went to ent,he said it was nothing but I should have a usg For my own peace of mind..I went for usg and nothing abnormal was found..but this mild pain in the throat is not going away.it isn t persistent and not noticeable most of the time(its like a wave that comes for a few seconds and goes).but yes some areas on my neck are a little tender to touch.I have quit smoking in january this year after smoking 3 cigarettes a day for about 5 years..stuck in the throat feeling is chronic and I think I have developed it during my smoking years(I used to make a weird grunting noise previously because of it)...so my question is should I be concerned about this mild pain which isn t very noticeable as of now but won t go away either

Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM
Many different medical conditions can cause such a feeling in your throat. It sounds like a chronic throat infection.Chronic throat infections will not always present like acute throat infections. With chronic infection, you get adapted and the illness can be there for long whereas acute cases hit at a go and are very symptomatic.Throat examination might come normal but a throat swap test might not. Some common medical conditions that can give you this symptoms are viral and bacterial infections, allergy, dry throat from environmental conditions, chronic gastro-intestinal reflux and throat tumours even though less likely in your case.
Given the chronic nature, i feel you should not neglect as will be the case with most mild throat pains. You should go see your ENT specialist again, request for a throat swap culture and H pylori tests. Depending on the results, you can be better managed. In the mean time, here are some home measure to make you feel better:
-Drink enough fluids and always
-Take comforting food and beverages and avoid cold things
- Gargle with salt water occasionally
-Humidify air
-Keep your home from smoke/cigarette
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
