Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Dry, Red Scaly Lump On The Lateral Ankle Bone?
I had a squamous cell carcinoma removed by excision from my lower left leg in Feb. I have just noticed a dry, red scaly lump on the lateral ankle bone on the same leg. Is this something that I should have seen right awa or should I wait for my full body scan in Sept?
Noted your short history of removal of squamous cell carcinoma from lower left leg in February, now noticed dry scaly lump on left lateral ankle. Surely you should see the Doctor right away to have a proper diagnosis, investigations and management. This can be due to one of the following reasons: Psoriasis. Skin cancer. Bunion. The management will obviously depend upon the final diagnosis. Have second opinion of a Skin Specialist that is Dermatologist also. Do not apply anything locally as this can change the classical character of any skin disease making diagnosis difficult on visualization.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
