What Causes A Disoriented Feeling While On Quetiapine?

my wife is taking Quetiapine 100mg (300mg) at bed time. She is very disorientated today, talking to people that aren t there and not making much sense at all. Shes a 57 year old healthy female that has never displayed this type of behavior. She s been up since 4 am, can t sleep and wiping her hand with each other. Any suggestions. Sleep seems impossible

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I am sorry she is having so much trouble. Is she taking the quetiapine for insomnia or for depression/anxiety or for other mental health problems?

Also, did she just start taking the medicine and were there any changes to other medications that she may have been taking?

I do recommend that you contact the doctor who prescribed it as she may be having side effects from it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh, General & Family Physician
