What Causes A Dent And Tenderness On The Forehead After An Injury?

I was looking for something in a floor cupboard and didn t realize the upper cupboard door had swung open. I stood up very quickly and hit the middle of my forehead near my hairline on the corner of the upper cupboard door. Now there is a dent there and it s quite tender. Should I get it checked out, and if so how urgent is it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi. Sorry to hear about your problem.
Seeing upon your description, it seems that due to trauma there has occured the damage of local tissues. If there is a dent then it may show the possibility of damage to a skull bone.
So the advice at the moment is to visit a radiologist to get the xrays of skull bone done for evaluation. CT SCAN BRAIN WITH BONE WINDOW may also be needed some times. If there is some sort of damage to bone then you would need opinion from a neurosurgeon. If there is no damage to bone then you don't need to worry about. It will get better with time.
Meanwhile you may need painkillers for which you may need to visit a general practitioner/ promary physician near you to get a prescription if pain killers are not available over the counter in your locality.
Wishing you the best of health.
Regards.
