What Causes A Constant Deterioration In Body Balance Despite Exercising Everyday?

I HAVE BEEN SUFFERING A GRADUAL DETERIORATION IN MY BALANCE - AT THIS POINT IT IS DIFFICULT FOR ME TO STAND WITHOUT HOLDING TO A CHAIR OR FIRM OBJECT - I DO WALK ABOUT A MILE A DAY USING A CANE, BUT THIS IS BECOMING VERY DIFFICULT AS I LOOSE BALANCE - I FEEL MY LEGS ARE STRONG AND AM EXERCISING LEGS, ARMS, WAIST, FEET AS RECOMMENDED FOR IMPROVING BALANCE, BUT THIS HAS NOT HELPED THE DETERIORATION

Hi,

As a first line management you can try drugs like betahistine for symptomatic relief.
If symptoms persist better to consult a neurologist and get evaluated. An MRI scan is required to look for possible intracranial causes.
Inner ear related problems can also cause similar problems.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
