What Causes A Bump On The Bottom Lip?

This month is morning I had a small bump on my bottom lip, left side. Within 5 hours it has quadrupled in size. It is painful because the skin is stretched. I have no allergies and there hasn t been any trauma in that area, I just woke up with. Been applying cold compress 10 min on then off. What else can I do? I can t go to my job disfigured. Please advise. Thank you

Hello and welcome to HCM forum,
Thank you for posting your query with us,

After reading through your query, it looks like swelling on your lower lip is increasing in size as a defensive response of your body to the allergen.
Allergen in your case could be an insect bit as you mentioned their was no trauma to the lip.
Also, I appreciate your efforts on applying hot/cold compresses.
Swelling will subside soon, it might take a day or two to completely resolve though.
You can take Ibuprofen for inflammation and pain , only if you do not have history of allergies to ibuprofen.
But , we have to rule out the cause of the swelling, which can only be done on clinical examination by your doctor.
I would like to advise you to see your family doctor at your earliest.

I hope I was able to offer you an acceptable answer for your query,
Do not hesitate to write back to us if you have any further questions.

with warm regards,
Dr. Anshika Taneja
