What Causes A Bump Inside Lips?

My 3 year old has a bump on the inside of his bottom lip. He has had it for a month already. When he starts to mess with it (bite on it) it turns white on the inside and seems to get a little harder but when he leaves it alone it seems to go back to the normal color in his mouth (like a pink) and gets softer. I have already taken him in to his pediatrician and all they tell me is that it will eventually go away and its nothing to worry about but its been way to long and it hasn't gone away.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC...

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per you complain it seems to be a MUCOCELE which is formed due to either due to clogged duct of minor salivary glands or its ducts or due to rupture of the duct of salivary gland ..
It is a harmless lump and many a times it resolves itself by spilling its contents into the mouth and heals eventually..
Concentrated salt water rinses can help in shrinkage of the lump and gradually heals off..
In case for persistent Mucoceles or large mucoceles which does not resolve by itself surgical removal under local anaesthesia can be done..
You should consult a Paediatric dentist [PEDODONTIST] and get evaluated and after clinical examination he can guide you better that you should still wait and watch for it to resolve or get it removed..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
