What Causes A Bruise-like Spot On The Knee After Injury?

I fell and bruised my knee pretty pad a few months ago. I went to the doctor and had it looked at and it wasn t broken. I keep getting a bruise on the knee thought on the same spot on that knee. It doesn t hurt to walk on it, but I still cannot kneel on it. I m assuming the bone is bruised, is there anything I should do? ==Thank you, Tina

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to blunt trauma.

For further assessment, you may require X-Ray or MRI of the knee joint.

For pain, you can take tablet acetaminophen.

Use the knee cap.

Use support while walking.

In the case of blood collection, you may require aspiration after orthopedician consultation

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
