What Causes A Black Discolored Ear Drum And Hearing Loss?
My nurse practitioner told me my eardrum was black and she had never seen this.I also have sudden hearing loss in the same ear.I went to the office because of sudden earache and sore throat.I was out on prednisone and antibiotics.I had no fever.it has been 3 weeks and my e a r and throat are still not normal.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have black discolored ear drum and hearing loss which could be due to many reasons but it seems to me that the symptoms occur probably due to punctured ear drum, accumulation of wax and severe infection in your ear. The blood can cause discoloration . It could be sensorineural hearing loss and acoustic neuroma condition. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist again for proper examination. Doctor may order certain test like CT scan and examine ear with otoscope. You should avoid touching and pricking it with sharp object. Doctor may prescribe stronger antibiotics at least or 10 days along with anti inflammatory , anti allergic and analgesic . Doctor may also prescribe supplement like ginkgo biloba . Doctor may also recommend you patching of ear drum , tympanoplasty or hearing aid .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
