What Causes TSH Suppression After Papillary Thyroid Cancer Surgery?

What causes the thyroid to become to high in the first place? I have had a complete thyroidectomy for papillary thyroid cancer 11 years ago. My thyroid pills were112mcg, than 137mcg and now the pills have been lowered to 125mcg , but instead od my thyroid becoming lower, it has progressed to even higher and would appear to be out of control. I have always been fine up to this last year. Any suggestions would really help. My email address is , YYYY@YYYY . Thank you for your help.

One important postoperative management for papillary thyroid carcinoma is TSH suppressive therapy. That is take adequate dose,of thyroxine to keep the TSH in the lowest possible limit without affecting the heart rate and bone health. Usual dose is 125 mcg to 150 mcg if taken appropriately. Then check Tsh at periodic intervals. If the whole body iodine scan is negative, and thyroglobulun is also low, Tsh can be kept on higher target.
