Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Caused Swelling On My Foot Where The Big Toe Meets?
I have swelling on my left foot, where the big toe meets the foot. It started this morning, and is extremely painful, and difficulty walking on it. The pain has gotten worse since this morning, and I didn t do anything to injure it. Should I go in to a doctor? What could have caused this?
As mentioned in history that there was no injury and the swelling has come up all of a sudden, I would like to ask you a few questions.
Are you diabetic? are you having any signs of high blood pressure?
I would advise you to check up your uric acid levels once. as this could be sometimes the cause for the swelling and pain.
Meantime you can use hot water fermentation and do ankle toe movements inside the hot water. Post this take the foot out and put over the pillow and perform ankle toe movements while lying position.
I think you should be fine with this. I will still make a request to check up your uric acid levels once.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Jay Indravadan Patel, Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist
