What Cause Continuous Vomiting And Dizziness?

Hi Doctor, A week ago, my housekeeper who is 48 years old, was working in the garden and she started vomiting non stop for few hours and felt dizzy. She continued vomiting until the next day, continued feeling dizzy and she didn t have an appetite to eat. She was in bed for 2 day, couldn t left her head up. I found out from her that she stopped taking her blood pressure medication a year ago. When we measured her blood pressure it was high. She started taking her blood pressure medication after a year from stopping to take it. It has been a week, however she still feels dizzy and a bit weak. What could the cause be? Thanks. Rania

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms she has, nausea, vomiting, dizziness and weakness can be caused by several causes but the most common and likely one is a viral infection. She needs to rest while she has the symptoms and she needs to make sure she takes oral rehydration solutions to substitute water and salt she lost with vomiting.

Other possible causes are if she has ingested something that has caused her to have the symptoms.

It is good she has started the blood pressure medications if she was using them and just stopped them before. I don't think her symptoms are related to the blood pressure though. It is important to check her blood pressure every 1-2 days to make sure it is at normal levels.

If she rests and uses oral rehydration solutions and she is not better in another 4-5 days or is any worse she needs to see a doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
