What Can Cause Nausea And Vomiting?

Hi. For a couple of months, post a cold, i have waves of nausea which don t result in vomiting but subside only to come back again and make me feel hideous. Headache and I belch a lot. I feel exhausted. What on earth is it? It goes away for a little while and then comes right back. Visited the doctor who said virus and then said maybe stomach acid imbalance and gave me (and my son who has also had it for ages) some acid balancing pills. Hmmmm. Here I am tonight with a killer headache, feel really rough and weepy and waves of nausea again. ANy ideas?
