What Can Cause Itchiness And Bruise On Upper Back?

Hi, I have a non healing bruise on my upper back. I went to see a dermatologist and she told me that maybe related to the hernia in my upper spine. She didn t run any tests and didn t see further examination necessary. I felt very relieved. But now, it has been more than 3 months and it is still not healing. It is scratching from time to time and hurts when it s scrubbed. Should I get a second opinion from another dermatologist? Thanks in advance.

Hi.
As per your case history of itching lesion on upper back, my treatment advice is -
1. The bruise may not be related to hernia, it maybe a condition called as macular amyloidosis.
2. Don't itch as itching will only worsen the condition.
3. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like betamethasone valerate twice daily. Oral antihistamine like levocetrizine can be taken for itching.
4. It is better to consult a dermatologist for perfect diagnosis and treatment.

Thanks.
