What Can Be Done To Expand Lungs After Pneumonia?

my father is suffering from pneomonia due to which his lungs were filled with water and he was not able to breathe properly....the doctors removed excess of water but now d problem is that lungs are not expanding completely ....please tell me what should i do?

Thanks for your query.
Your father needs to have postural drainage and chest physiotherapy and there are many recent devices to serve this purpose like bell, acapella, pneumatic jackets etc. You need to consult a pulmonologist and go for postural drainage and learn the techniques properly from him so that you can regularly practise those at home. Besides those there is incentive spirometer which can be used at home by your father himself. Discuss these issues with your pulmonologist.
