Try and eat healthily, eat less salt, fat and sugar. Take gentle exercise, swimming is best if you have high blood pressure. (Don't confuse weight with blood pressure, anyone can have high blood pressure and gentle exercise is still the key.)
Try and avoid stress, take time to relax in a bath (not in front of a tv or computer) And avoid too much caffine, that means a little tea, but no coffee or coke.
It's a really common problem, but if they've said to check again in 2 weeks it's not that serious. It may be a wake up call if your lifestyle is not all it should be though.

Hi I am a heathy 42 year old woman who have suffered with very high blood pressure for the pass three years....my highest being 249/189 .....I am on medication but nothing seems to work....my doctor keeps telling me that we need to bring it down but nothing works...I have been admitted to hospital a few times but yet again everything that they suggestion or new meds that I have been put on do not work.....my last reading today was 190/121......any suggestions?
I have high blood pressure. Went to the ER for BP of 177/116. I had blurry vision, migraine, pain in the left shoulder shooting up to my head. They gave me pain meds and something to bring my bp down. Now, my BP is 133/101. I have a dull headache but my vision is okay right now. What should we do?
