What Are The Withdrawal Effects Of Solpadol 30mg 500mg?
My husband recently had a back operation and since then he doesn t need to take the 8 a day 30mg/500mg Solpadol that he as taken for approx six years. The hospital stopped his tablets straight away but because of the anxiety attacks he was having he put himself back on them. At the moment he is taking 4 tablets a day, but he is still getting the anxiety attacks he is not sleeping and says he feels ill. He gets tired really quick and finds easy tasks difficult. He wants to reduce the tablets further but wants to know is there a way of doing this without all of the symptoms? Should he have halved the amount so soon?
Solpadol 30mg/500mg (codeine30mg/acetaminophen 500mg) can cause dependence when it is taken over 6 years. I would have taken a decision of tapering the dose much more slowly. If it's 8 per day, I would go for 6 per day over 2-4 weeks and then reduce to 4 and further after that along with counselling. Or the other option is to put on other type of similar medications which have less abuse potential and gradually withdraw them over time. This is called deaddiction and it has to be done under medical supervision.
