What Are The Withdrawal Effects Of Schiff Glucosamine?

I have been taking Schiff Glucosamine (1500mg) every morning for at least 10 years. Will there be any adverse side effects if I choose to stop taking it? Is there a need to wean myself down...perhaps taking one every other day, then progress to longer gap before stopping completely?

Hi,

I understand you have a question about weaning off glucosamine. Glucosamine is a natural substance that your body uses to cushion joints. Your body does not become dependent on the extra glucosamine you take and you should be able to stop without any problems. There should be no need to wean yourself down.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
