my husband was on janumet. the new doctor put him on janumet extend release tablets. for the last week his blood sugar has been high. almost like the janumet xr is not working. he has been on it for a month now and just now having problems. what could be an underlying reason as to why his sugar is very high. he is also on high blood pressure medicine.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If his blood sugars are high then it may mean: (1) the janumet may need to be adjusted
(2)may need to look at his diet to see if he is using foods that would be associated with sharp increases in blood sugar
He may need to see a nutritionist.

Since the readings are consistently high, he should go back to his doctor for a review.

I hope this helps
