What Are The Test To Confirm Leukoplakia In Throat?

My ENT Doctor did an examination of my throat and told me i may have Leuklopakia.He schedule me for surgery.How dangerous is this and can this be something not serious? Also how long is the recovery time after surgery.Can my voice be compromissed? Is there other test that can be done to make sure this is not what he is telling me.It also said that this could be pre-canserous. Thank You

I understand your concern, as you have asked about diagnosis and confirmation of leukoplakia throat, in this connection I would like to say that it is by DIRECT LARYNGOSCOPY and BIOPSY from leukoplakia patch.

You are very correct that leukoplakia is a pre cancerous condition but if it is removed surgically than chances of further development to cancer becomes negligible.

Your next query is for expected time for recovery after surgery is about 8 to 10 days if process remains uneventful.

Surgical process for removing leukoplakia larynx is by micro-laryngeal surgery.
