What Are The Symptoms Of Bronchopneumonia?

Hi, my friend has had a very deep cough and horse throat for 3 months. She has taken 3 different antibiotic medicines and still doesn t feel good. Her doctor originally said she had bronchial pneumonia and that was in February. Since then he has taken a chest xray and said he might have to put on steroids.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Cough of more than 2 weeks are commonly seen in bronchitis and lung infection. If your chest x ray is normal, no need to worry for lung infection.
Possibility of bronchitis is more in your case.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
PFT is needed for the diagnosis of bronchitis.
It will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment of bronchitis is based on severity only.
You may need inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
Don't worry, she will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query. Thanks.
