Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello and thanks for your query.

I appreciate your effort to seek help for your weight and eating problems. Many of the symptoms that you have described are indeed suggestive of an eating disorder, namely Anorexia.

-Rapid loss of weight
-Abnormal perception of being fat
-Severe food / calorie restriction
These are all core features of anorexia. Now that you have been able to identify your problem, it is very essential to seek help.

Early intervention will prevent you from developing a serious illness and complications. Treatment is in the form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. So, please tell your parents or your school counsellor about your problems and ask for a psychiatric consultation.
