What Are The Symptoms After Ileus?

Hi. I developed an ileus last month appx 3 days after the removal of my gall bladder. All has resolved but I still have discomfort on my right side intestinal abdomen area. This area is where my greatest pain from the distention was. How long should I expect this discomfort to last? Should the soreness have resolved by now? When should I be concerned.

Hi Dear !! Thanks for your query to HCM .
Read and reviewed your query and health concerns.
You seems to suffer from-Post-Op Ileus-could be due to mismatched oral intake schedules/ or it could be from post-operative ileus with CO2 insufflation-in lap Cholecystectomy.
Current Discomfort at the ileus spot - is from Post-Cholecystectomy Syndrome.This recovers in 1-3 weeks with Lap Chole and in 6-8 weeks in open cholecystectomy.
If the things persist after this period,you should check up with the attending surgeon for any delaying complication.

Hope this would help you to plan further care of this complex illness of yours.
