What Are The Signs To Watch For In Case Of Ingestion Of Fabric Softener?

i have just ran into the kitchen where my child ( 19months) had hold of my fabric softener bottle, He had undone the lid and was holdling it to his mouth. I dont think anything was ingested but am petrified that something was. What signs can I watch for that he needs medical attention? I have given him water, as per usual and he seems fine in his normal behaviour.

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Fabric softeners contain alkali and may cause mild degree of oesophageal burn if there is prolonged contact. Good news is evrything seems normal with your baby as he drank water and there has been no complaints.
I would suggest you to look for following sigb=ns
1. Difficulty in swallowing
2. Frothing from mouth
3. Bleeding in vomiting

Also for your reassurance would suggest you to consult your Pediatrician.

Take Care

Best Regards
Dr Deepak
