What Are The Signs Of Being Autistic?

I suspect my cousin has autism, please tell me if his symptoms do mean he has autism or not, he randomly gets angry, hardly speaks, hates reading, and has the maturity of a 9 year old (he is 13), also his academic skills at the peak are average.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Autistic children have limited ability to speak or interact with others, have poor social engagements, and try to be inside their own world. They have limited interests. Also, there can be stereotypical movements.

There are online screening tools to for personal use (like m-CHAT). Anyhow, if suspicion is high, ask his parents to take him to a pediatrician / pediatric neurologist for formal assessment, although its too late already now.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
