Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been on Paxil for more than 30 years. Recently my doctor raised my intake from 30 to 40 mg. I take the medication in the mornings. Does this increase have any side effects, do it help with my age @ 84? Another MD suggested that I switch to a more recent drug. Which one would be the best?
Paxil is a brand name of Paroxetine and is a very safe drug. You can safely continue your current dose and it has got very minimal side effects. If you are worried much, you can switch to newer ones but the cost might be a problem.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
