What Are The Repercussions Of Overdosing On Primolut-N?
doctor i was pregnent twice but i lost my both the babies. One in 8th week & the other in 12th week. The common mistake was i had taken almost 10 primulut tablets to postpone my period. Both the babies had cycstic hygroma, hydrops. Is this defect of this tablet? Will i be able to have a baby again?
Primolut tablets are Norethisterone in therapeutic class and has fluid retention ability. Before giving Norethisterone, it is mandatory to test for pregnancy since it isn't allowed to be given during pregnancy. Fetal exposure to Primolut can result in malformation of the baby like cystic hygroma, hydrops etc., though the chance is pretty small.
One can continue with pregnancy but it will be necessary to undergo periodic ultrasound test at short interval like every monthly to monitor the development of the baby. However, Primolut is not to be used as a contraceptive. It will not prevent you from falling pregnant.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
