What Are The Prohibitions For Having Posterior Placenta Grade 1?

Hello Doc, I have a posterior placenta Grade I. My questions are: 1) Is it safe to have sex with this position of placenta, 2) What is the chance that i will have a normal delivery, and 3) What are the prohibitions for having a posterior placenta Grade I. Thanks a lot and best regards, Florence

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

A posterior position of placenta is very safe relatively for delivery as long it is not low lying or covering the mouth of the uterus. The placenta gets fixed only after 28 weeks and before that it is not correct to say about its final position. Sex with a posteriorly placed placenta is not a cause of worry or limiting factor. It is suggested that you have sex in pregnancy friendly positions and the missionary position is most suitable and easy.
