What Are The Possible Chances Of Miscarriage During Third Trimester?

I am 28 years old and with a son of 4 years. I am 5 feet 3 inches and little above and about 75kgs in weight which I know is overweight and trying to come down. My problem is that I had some complications when I was pregnant with my son as I had bleeding during the first trimester and was in complete bed rest for 4 months. Then was normal. As my mother was diabetic and my gynic suspected that I had border diabetes during pregnancy I was put to diet from my 6th month onwards. After my 7th month ended and 8th month started I was normal, but at 30 weeks I was into labor and the docs couldnt stop it and I delivered prematuredly exactly 30 weeks and 1 day and the delivery was normal. But after that I had a problem with my placental removal and the doctor had to do it manually. My gynic never suspected a problem as I went for check up only 4 days before my delivery as I was about to travel to my native that weekend for my delivery. Now my query is that we are planning for a second baby now. But I am little scared as one gynic near my house said that my uterus mouth would be stitched and I would be put to complete bed rest. but I am worried as I do not have anyone to help me with and take care of my family and the baby. My son needs me and needs my attention. Can anyone help me with this? Is there any possibility of me to deliver normally?

Hi, I have gone through your complete nicely narrated history and have understood the case.

From your doctor's opinion, it seems that he/she is suspecting loose mouth of the uterus (incompetent os) due to which you had premature delivery last time. In fact such condition causes premature delivery before 28 weeks. Anyway, you will need a stitch to reinforce the mouth of your uterus.

Before the stitch is put in and even after that also, you are not supposed to lift up heavy weights lest the risk of premature delivery.

Along with incompetent os, you are having another risk factor; i.e. diabetes. Before you become pregnant, it is highly imperative that you get your diabetes under control. Even then during pregnancy, it is known to flare up. You will have to be under close supervision of your Obstetrician.

Moreover, your placenta was stuck up in the uterus and had to be removed manually. This is also a very high risk factor. You need to be under the care of a very good obstetrician in a well equipped hospital.

Can you not invite some of your relatives like parents or in-laws to stay with you instead of you traveling all the way, which is not advisable?

Please try to find out a practical solution. Take you care please.
