Hello.

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your son's history. From your history I would first think of childhood asthma.

Regarding your first query, Asthalin has no long term side effects, but it does have short term side-effects like tremors, increasing heartbeats, palpitations, irritability, reduction in blood potassium levels, etc.

For exact treatment, I would like to ask more questions about him like - does he have any other allergic disease like allergic rhinitis? is able to perform sports or exercise like activities without any trouble? what are the worst seasons for his asthma? etc

However, from your history, I would suggest you as follows:

1. If your son needs nebulization with asthalin for more than twice a week, his asthma is not well controlled and I would not manage him with asthalin alone.

In that case, I would suggest him regular montelukast which may reduce his requirement of asthalin.

2. I would suggest your son allergy testing which may identify the substances he may be allergic to and also the measures to avoid them.

3. Please try to avoid exposure to dusts, smokes and air pollution as much as possible. A healthy diet rich in vitamins and minerals (e.g., adequate amounts of green leafy vegetables, fruits, sprouts, etc) will also help him in a longer run.

Hope this will be helpful to your son.

Wish him the best of the health.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Thank you & Regards.
