What Are The Effects Of Methamphetamine On Pregnancy?

Hello, My boyfriend used to smoke meth. At the time he was using this girl claims that he got her pregnant (there are three possible fathers). Is this possible for him to get her pregnant even though they both were and she still is on drugs? What affect will this have on the baby? She is due in 16 days.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, female patients can get pregnant although they might be on drugs or both parents can be on drugs. There is increased risk for birth defects or other abnormalities. She might experience pre / eclampsia, premature birth, or any other problems. So, her pregnancy is considered at high risk. That's why we recommend to stop using drugs when a patients gets to know she is pregnant.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
