What Are The Chances Of Pregnancy When On Birth Control Pill?

Am i possibly pregnant? I had sex with my boyfriend on march 12th. Im on birth control but i took it alittle irregular 2 days before sex. He did not finish inside me but i know pre cum is a possibility. The next day i started bleeding even though it wasnt the time for me to bleed on the birth control, i bleed for a week straight. Then when it was time for my period with the birth control all i got was alittle brown discharge but nothing much (somtimes on the sugar pills all i get is brown discharge, not blood) but i didnt get as much brown discharge as normal, could i be pregnant? Its april 6th now.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

Taking the birth control irregularily can send the body signals that its time to have a withdrawal bleed, which may be the reason why you began bleeding early and bled fot almost a week.

And as you bled for this long, your next cycle was delayed. The presentation is all due to the irregularity in taking the birth control pills and nothing else in my opinion. Such undesired side effects should be expected with the pill, including the brown discharge too. I doubt you are pregnant ma'am. Your cycle should return to normal within 2-3 cycles.

Best wishes.
