What Are The Chances Of Getting Pregnant Inspite Of Being On Mercilon?

Hi There , I have been on Noriday contraceptive pill for a year now and bled almost constantly and heavily so never knew what my cycle was ( I had a baby nearly 3 yrs ago)... I was advised to change to Mercilon ( having been on this happily for many years pre children) and so stopped taking Noriday one day ( not knowing where I was in my cycle) and the next day started a new Mercilon pack .... that was 17 days ago and I had intercourse with my husband yesterday and I am now concerned that I would not have been protected sufficiently ?! Please can you advise as I don t want to take Levonelle but also don t want to risk pregnancy. Many THanks.

I understand your concern.
Mercilon is modern contraceptive . IT's a 28 pills strip to exclude possibility of irregular intake.. you have to continue the pills in the sequence advised.. so as to have regular bleeding/ bleeding is lesser (so gives you relief from profuse/ prolonged bleeding ).
You have taken the pills regularly, so you were taking the pills when you had sex.. that rules out possibility of pregnancy. please don't worry.. go ahead with your pill pack.. you will have bleeding while you are taking last seven pills of the pack.
